When you think of summer some things immediately spring to mind: holidays, enjoying the great outdoors, long hot days, white beaches, and lots of fun with family and friends. Holidaying on the Sunshine Coast is the ultimate place to spend time during summer and with so many things to do, you’re spoilt for choice.

We’ve put together our top 10 things to do when staying at Macquarie Lodge apartments at Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. There’s something for everyone and best of all, you get to come home to great holiday accommodation at the end of the day. Enjoy!

* Activities listed need to be booked and prices vary.

1 – Scream your lungs out and feel the rush of adrenaline on-board Noosa’s Speed Boat Thrill Ride. For 1.5 hours you’ll race through the waves and along coastline that the Sunshine Coast is famous for including white sandy coves, steep rock cliffs, Hell’s Gates in the Noosa National Park and much more. If lucky, you might even see one of the dolphins that call this area home.

2 – If speed is not quite your thing you can still enjoy the waves, coastal scenery and dolphins with the much quieter 1.5 hour long Noosa Dolphin Safari. This scenic cruise travels up the Noosa River and around the coast to Hell’s Gates. You’ll see these majestic animals as they feed and play in the water, often in a pod. The boat only takes a small group so you are guaranteed to be sitting by the side of the boat for perfect viewing and photo taking opportunities.

3 – What better way to let off some steam than with five 20-minute paintball sessions at Sunshine Coast Paintball, which is just a 45 minute drive south from Noosa. With 100 paintballs to take aim with, camouflage gear, and loads of forts, huts and rugged Sunshine Coast bushland to hide in, this is a great way to spend a few hours with friends or family.

4 – No summer holiday in Noosa is complete without a Sunshine Coast Surfing Lesson. You’ll be surfing like a local after your 2 hour lesson in the gentle waters at Noosa Beach. You only need to bring sunscreen, a towel and a sense of adventure as you’ll be provided with a board, leg-rope, and your choice of either a wetsuit or rashie.

5 – Even summer has rainy days so why not tick an item off the bucket list with a SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Seal Swim. Did we mention that you are going to get wet, as you’ll be in the water meeting, swimming with and watching the resident seals as they play? You even get a photo with a seal and general admission included. What an experience!

6 – If you prefer staying dry then do we have the perfect way to spend a day! A Noosa Day Tour will see you visiting amazing lookouts, enjoying the magnificent Noosa National Park, taking a scenic ferry ride to Noosa Marina and spending time shopping in the famous Hastings Street. But that’s not all as you’ll also enjoy a 2-course lunch with beverages at Pier 11 Restaurant at the Noosa Marina. This is a great way to get a feel for all that Noosa has to offer in one day.

7 – Why not challenge yourself, your friends or your family members with the Sunshine Coast Treetop Challenge(children must be 8 years or older to participate). This is Australia’s highest adventure course where you’ll find yourself suspended 25 metres above the ground in the rainforest canopy. There are flying foxes, long zip lines, stunning views and 100 amazing challenges in five courses to try. It’s located near the Big Pineapple, just 40 minutes’ drive from Macquarie Lodge.

8 – If you love fishing but don’t have your fishing gear with you, then you are in luck. Noosa Fishing and Crab Tours is the ideal way to spend the day on the beautiful Noosa River. Cast a line to try your luck at catching bream, whiting or trevally or pull up a few crab pots to see what you’ve caught. You’ll enjoy a delicious lunch and get to try either the local Queensland Mud or Blue Swimmer Crabs. All equipment including life jackets are included on this trip that caters for all ages.

9 – Don’t feel like driving but would love to spend some time at Australia Zoo? With the Australia Zoo experience you get picked up from our accommodation in a luxury air-conditioned vehicle, 5 hours to explore Australia Zoo (with admission included), and also a quick visit to the Glass House Mountains scenic lookout where you can take ‘that’ amazing photo of the Sunshine Coast. Make sure you plan your day, as there are LOADS of things to see, do and experience at Australia Zoo.

10 – And relax … you’ve earned it! Why not spend some time around the Macquarie Lodge pool, take a stroll along the boardwalk to our private Noosa River beach, read a book on your balcony, cook up some delicious local produce on one of the BBQs in the guest entertainment area or enjoy some time in our heated outdoor spa. After all, summer is also for relaxing.
